Islamabad down Quetta in All-star exhibition match
Islamabad United thrashed Quetta Gladiators by 59 runs in a pre-PSL all-star muqabla exhibition match played at Rawalpindi cricket stadium.
Quetta skipper Sarfraz after winning the toss out United to bat as Sahibzada Farhan and Asif Ali came to bat for Islamabad. Both the batsmen started attentively but scored 57 runs in power play over without any loss. Islamabad United lost their first wicket on 139 runs when Sahibzada Farhan got out. United’s Skipper Misbah ul Haq then came out to bat and meanwhile opening batsman Asif Ali completed his glittering century.
In the 15th over, United completed the milestone of 200 runs. Misbah ul haq got out in the 18th over and in the same over United scored 250 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. In the 20th over Asif Ali got out on 126 runs. Islamabad United in their 20 overs, put a mammoth total of 290 runs on board where Asif Ali was pick of the batsman with 126 runs while Iftikhar 54, Sahidzada 44 and Misbah 28 were the other runs scorers. Anwar, Rambo and Saud bagged 1 wicket each for 41, 19 and 45 runs, respectively from Quetta Gladiators.
Gladiators needed 291 runs with an asking rate of 14.55 runs per over and they started positively as they scored 79 runs in first six overs. Soon as the power play overs ended, Gladiators lost their first wicket but continue with the same pace as they scored 138/2 runs in 10 overs. Quetta were 188 when they lost their 3rd wicket in the 15th over and they still needed 103 runs in just 30 balls.
United bowlers then restricted Gladiators on 231/8 in 20 overs to win the All-Stars Muqabla by 59 runs. Umar Amin 77, Ramiz Raja jr 38, Azam Khan 32 and Moin Khan 20 were top scorers from Quetta while Zafar Gohar grabbed 3 wickets for 41 runs while Hussain Talat and Ali Naqvi took 2 wickets each for 10 and 43 runs, respectively from United.
