Islamabad to host ITF Junior Tennis championship from 19
Petron Pakistan Tennis Federation Syed Dilawar Abbas has announced that Pakistan will be hosting ITF Juniors tennis championship after nine long years at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad.
Senator Dilawar Abbas who is also honorary life-time senior vice president of Asian Tennis federation has announced that ITF juniors tennis championships has returned Pakistan after a period of 9 years and it is scheduled to be held between 19 to 24 February 2018. He said International Tennis Federation (ITF) has awarded us the juniors tournament after the successful conduct of Davis cup ties and ITF features in 2017 and 2018 in Pakistan.
Qualifying round of the event will start from 16 February while the main draw will start from 19th February at Syed Dilawar PTF tennis complex. He added that “it is an international ranking tournament and it will attract the foreign players to participate and improve their rankings”.
A big number of entries from UK, USA, Thiland, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Greece, Canada and Turkey have received as it will also provide a good boost to local players after playing against international players and spectators will see witness good matches, Dilawar further said.
Main draw includes 32 players in singles and 16 in doubles while in the qualifying round for singles is also for 32 players. ITF White Badge official M Arif Qureshi has been nominated as referee of the event, he concluded.
