University of Peshawar seals Inter College games trophy
University of Peshawar triumph the trophy by securing overall 74 points after winning eight gold medals in Inter college games.
A total of 30 affiliated colleges took part in 13 different games including volleyball, tennis, table tennis, hockey, football, cricket, badminton, handball, squash and athletics.
Post Graduate Department University of Peshawar secured gold medal in volleyball, tennis, table tennis, hockey, football, cricket, badminton while won the silver medals in athletics, basketball and bronze in Kabaddi by securing 74 points. Government College Peshawar with 54 points secured the second spot after winning gold medals in handball, basketball while silver medals in badminton, hockey, kabaddi, squash, table tennis, tennis, tug of war and volleyball.
Govt Degree College Matra with 19 points ended on third as they won gold medals in athletic and got bronze in badminton, handball, squash, and volleyball. Edwards College Peshawar got 9 points as they got bronze medals in basketball, table tennis and tennis.
Govt College for Commerce and Management Science Charsadda won gold medal in tug of war, Govt Superior Science College Peshawar won the gold medal in Kabaddi. Govt College Badaber secured bronze in hockey and tug of war while Govt Degree College Landikotal secured silver medal in cricket.
In Athletic Meet, Government College Matra won the trophy for the first time in the Games history after securing 62 points and two of the promising athletes Muhammad Asif and Nouman were the key contributors.
Muhammad Asif nominated as a best athlete for securing 48 points after winning gold medals in 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, and got silver medal in 100m and 200m and bronze medal in 110 hurdles, Nouman got gold medals in 100m, and 200m.
Hamza Akhtar of PG Dept. won gold medals in 110m hurdles, high jump and silver medal in long jump and high jump. He secured 24 points and overall remained second best athlete. Mohib Ullah of PGU won gold medals in shot put and javelin throw while bronze medal in disc throw.
Former World Champion Qamar Zaman grace the ceremony as a chief guest and distributed the prizes among the position holder teams. Professor Dr. Hizbullah, Chairman Environmental Science, University of Peshawar, Professor Dr. Ishaq, founder member of the University College, President Sports Committee Professor Muhammad Saeed Khan, Secretary General AIPs Asia Amjad Aziz Malik, Director General Sports and former international athlete BahreKaram and AD Saleem Khan were also present.
