FIFA WC trophy unveils in Lahore
FIFA world cup trophy arrives in Lahore on a historic stop as part of FIFA world cup trophy tour that travels through 51 countries and 91 cities across six continents.
Christian Karembeu, former French world cup winner, former Pakistani captain Younis Khan, singers Qurat ul Ain Baloch, Momina Mustehsan, sports journalists and other top figures brought the trophy on a special chartered flight from Singapore to Pakistan.
World cup trophy started its journey from Russia in September 2017 while it will travel approximately 126, 000 kilometers during the journey as it passes through 91 cities of 6 continents and settle back to hosts Russia in May 2018.
The FIFA World Cup will run from June 14 to July 15 this year.
FIFA world cup trophy arrived in Lahore on Saturday 3rd February where it was unveiled before the media men and other national sportsmen while later in the day it was displayed in a public park during an ongoing festival for the people.
Trophy was then taken to a local hotel where it was showcased in an event for the delegation of key stakeholders, government officials, media, the national men’s and women’s football teams, sports bloggers and influencers.
The trophy was first introduced in 1974 and it is made of 18 karat gold with malachite base and stands 36.8 centimeters high and weighs 6.1 kilograms. The trophy shows two human figures holding up the earth.
