Shahid to take Imran in National Masters snooker championship decider
Reigning champion Imran Shahzad to play against Shahid Shafiq in the final of second second Jubilee Insurance National Masters (40+) Snooker Championship
It is going to be all Punjab final as both the recorded comfortable victories against opponents in the semifinals.
Imran defeated Sindh’s Mesam Zaidi by 5-1. Imran was down and out in the first frame but he made strong comeback as he won next 5 frames in a row to send packing his opponent Mesam by a convincing score of 27-70, 90-20, 59-22, 64-37, 76-34, 80-01.
Second match of last four round was played between Punjab’s Shahid and Sindh’s Naveen Perwani where Shahid toppled Perwani 5-2. Although Shahid remained on the top of the game but twice he loses the focus as he missed chances to down Perwani in straight frames. Shahid chalked up victories in first two frames by 63-36 and 66-48 but Naveen came from behind to reduce the lead to 2-1 as he won the third frame by 62-45.
Shahid won the next 2 frames once again with a score of 66-13 and 70-20 but it was Perwani who once again escapes from early lost by winning the frame by 81-16 with a break of 60 but could not prolong the game further as Shahid outplayed Perwani in the seventh frame by 70-24 with a break of 58 and seal the final against Imran Shahzad.
Final of the championship will be played today.
