PHF plans tri-nation Hockey tournament in February
Pakistan Hockey Federation all set to hold three nation hockey tournament in Oman next month.
For the preparation of upcoming mega events, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) plans to host a three nation hockey tournament in Oman next month as Pakistan has to participate in Commonwealth games, Asian games, Champions trophy and World cup this year.
Secretory PHF Shahbaz Ahmed senior has said that PHF will also request Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) for its help to hold the tournament which will witness teams from the continent only. PHF have a plan to hold the tournament in Oman in the third week of February and ask AHF for its help, Shahbaz said.
We are planning to hold the tournament so that green shirts will get prepare for the upcoming mega events in the year as they did not play well in the recent years but we are trying to improve of side and hopefully men in green will post good results in upcoming Asian games, Shahbaz Senior added.
Pakistan has to take part in the commonwealth games in April which is considered to be the qualification round for 2020 Olympics and hopefully Pakistan will get the gold medal in April’s event. After that Pakistan will take part in Asian Games that are scheduled to be held in Jakarta in August.
PHF secretory said that upcoming World-XI tour will also lift our players as they will show up in front of local crowed and that also boost the hockey atmosphere in the country. All upcoming events will help the team to lift their spirits and we are hopeful, team will respond and perform well in upcoming events, he concluded.
