Top seeds fall prey in national U-21 snooker championship
Provincial champions from Sindh, Balochistan, KPK and junior champion from Islamabad were sent packing by opponents in the ongoing U-21 Jubilee Insurance National Championship at Sports complex Islamabad.
The tournament is being played on league basis and 16 more matches to be played today. Islamabad’s unseeded player Mohammad Mehmood Ahmed defeated junior champion Sheheryar Khan from Sindh by 3-1. It was Khan’s second defeat in 2 days.
KPK’s Mubashir Munshif stuns Balochistan’s junior champion Rabish Pervaiz in the decisive frame to take the game 3-2. The runner-up of recently concluded U-18 championship Sheikh Muhammad Mudassir from Punjab overcomes KPK’s junior champion Usman Khurshid by 3-1.
Later in the matches, defending champion and IBSF world junior U-18 champion Mohammad Nasee Akhter from Punjab registers victory against Islamabad’s junior champion Sohaib Usman by 3-0 while last year’s runner-up Muhammad Haris Tahir easily downs Altaf Hussain from Balochistan with a margin of 3-0.
