Shan Masood steers UBL in PCB departmental ODI cup Final

Unbeaten ton of UBL Opener Shan Masood helps his team to extend the winning streak to eight wins and qualifies for the final of PCB departmental ODI cup 2018.

The first semifinal was played between UBL and SSGC at NBP stadium Karachi. After winning the toss, UBL decided to bowl first. SSGC skipper, opening and inform batsman Umar Amin was sent back to pavilion by Mir Hamza on not in the third over. Pakistan’s test opening batsman Sami Aslam and Awais Zia then build the partnership and contributed 88 runs for the second wicket partnership. Wicket of Sami Aslam then fall off on 101 runs in 21st over and soon Awais Zia was also bowled out on 48 runs. Asif Zakir then try to move the score card but Hammad Azam bowled Asaif on 41 runs. After that none of SSGC batsman stayed on the wicket for longer time and UBL wrapped SSGC’s innings on 235 runs in 49.1 overs.

Mir Hamza, Sameen Gul, Mohammad Asghar and Ashiq Ali all picked up 2 wickets each while Hammad Azam grabbed 1 wicket from UBL. Sohaib Maqsood remains wicket less as he gave 11 runs in 2 overs.

In reply, Shan Masood led the UBL team to victory as he hammered an unbeaten 100 runs in just 101 balls with 13 boundaries. Sohaib Maqsood was the other successful batsman who scored 89 runs with the help of 10 fours and 2 huge sixes and UBL chased the target in 40.5 overs for the loss of just 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Ahmed Jamal and Fawad Alam were the only successful bowlers from SSGC as they picked up 1 wicket each.

Shan Masood was given man of the match award and after the win, UBL extended its winning run to 8 games and remains unbeaten till now from the start of the tournament. Shah Masood has scored 573 runs in 8 matches with 3 hundreds and 3 half-centuries with an average of 191. His highest score in the competition was 145 runs and he remains unbeaten 5 times in 8 matches. Sadaf Hussain was pick up of the bowlers in the tournament so far as he grabbed 18 wickets in the 7 matches with a highest of 55-4.

Second semifinal of the tournament is in progress between PTV and WAPDA at NBP stadium Karachi.
