Mudassir to vie Umer in final jubilee Insurance snooker championship
Mudassir Sheikh defeated compatriot Shahzad Malik in first semifinal while Umer Khan outplayed Hamza Ilyas to reach in the final of Jubilee Insurance 3rd National Junior U-18 Snooker Championship.
In the first semifinal, Punjab’s Mudassir easily send packing the opponent Shahzad Malik 4-1 with the frame scores of 65-41, 61-12, 50-38, 88-21, 65-8. Mudassir twice chalked up big breaks in two successive frames. In the fourth frame he played a break of 59 while in the fifth frame, he played a break of 65 and that was also the highest break of the tournament so far as previous was 60 made Punjab’s Ahsan Ramzan.
In the second semifinal, Umer Khan faced some resistance from M Hamza Ilyas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as he defeated Hamza by 4-2. His winning score remains 70-28, 58-23, 15-63, 48-58, 73-01, 78-14. Umer was top of his game in the first two frames but in the third and fourth frame, 13 years old Hamza shocked Umer to level the game 2-2. Umer bounced back in the fifth frame by defeating Hamza with a big margin of 73-01 but also cleared his ways to reach into the final after beating Hamza by 78-14 in the sixth frame to win the match.
Final of the tournament will be played between Mudassir and Umer at on Thursday 11th January at PSB Billiards & Snooker Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad.
