UBL continue winning streak in PCB departmental ODI cup
UBL after winning 6 successive matches, tops the points table followed by underdogs PTV with four wins and WAPDA remains on third with 4 wins in the PCB departmental ODI cup.
Four more matches were decided yesterday as SNGPL beats NBL by 8 wickets, UBL overpowered WAPDA by 8 wickets, HBL defeated SSGC by 37 runs and PTV cruised KRL by 57 runs.
In the first match after winning the toss NBP choose to bat first and put 203/9 runs on board with Ali Asad not out on 63 and Usama Ali 42. Mohammad Abbas, Rahat Ali, Imran Khalid and Muhammad Imran grabbed 2 wickets each and Iftikhar picked up 1. In reply, with brilliance of Asad Shafiq’s 101 not out, SNGPL chased the score in 31.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Raza Hasan and Kamran Ghulam picked a wicket each as SNGPL won by 8 wickets.
UBL in the second match, after winning the toss elected to bowl first. WAPDA managed to score only 197 runs with Mansoor Amjad on top with 92 runs. 7 WAPDA batsman did not move into double figures. Mir Hamza picked up 4 wickets while Hammad Azam grabbed 3, Sameen Gul 2 and Sohaib Maqsood took 1 wicket. UBL chased the target in 29.1 over for the loss of 2 wickets and won the match by 8 wickets. Shah Masood 64 not out, Sohaib Maqsood 69 not out were the main runs scorers. Mohammad Irfan and Khalid Usman got 1 wicket each.
The third match was played between SSGC and HBL and after winning the toss, HBL decided to bat first and scored 238/10 runs in 48.4 overs. Imran Farhat 67 and Amad Butt 59 were the top scorers. Zia ul Haq grabbed 4 wickets while Ahmed Jamal got 2 and 1 wicket each for Mohammad Irfan Jr and Adil Amin from SSGC. While defending the target, HBL wrapped the SSGC innings on 201 runs in 43.3 overs to win the match by 37 runs. Kashif Bhatti 38 and Sami Aslam 28 were top scorers from SSGC. Amad butt got 3 wickets while Aftab Alam, Nasir Ahmed picked up 2 wickets each and Muhammad Bilal Shah, Abdul Rehman and Zohaib Khan got 1 each from HBL.
The fourth match saw underdogs PTV winning over winning over KRL. Khan Research Laboratories put PTV to bat first after winning the toss. PTV hammered 270/10 runs in 50 overs. Saud Shakeel 82 and Hasan Mohsin 55 were main scorers. Sadaf Hussain picked up 4 wickets while Ahmed Bashir got 3 wickets and Nauman Ali, Nayyer Abbas picked up 1 each from KRL. PTV in reply, restricted KRL on 213 runs for loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs to win by 57 runs. Jahid Ali with 52 and Abdul Rehman Muzammil 31 were top scorers from KRL. Samiullah, Ali Khan got 3 wickets each while Mohammad Imran Jr got 2 and Hasan Mohsin picked up 1 wicket from PTV.
