RMC’s Mayors cup t20 cricket tournament begins
A week long Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation Cup cricket tournament started at the Government Degree College for Boys, Satellite Town.
46 UC of the city are participating in the tournament and 91 t20 matches are scheduled to play in the tournament. Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Naseem, Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal and PML-N MNA Malik Abrar jointly inaugurated the event.
The local government has allocated about 25 millions rupees for the annual development program for sports in the city. RMC spent an amount of 1.2 million rupee on Kabaddi event held on 14th August 2017 and now it’s planning to spend around 3.2 million on the ongoing cricket tournament including the cash prizes to the top 3 teams.
Mayor Rawalpindi on the occasion said, that RMC would give the prize money of 300,000 to the winning team while runner-up will get 200,000 rupee and special prizes for the men of the matches will also be distributed. The Mayor further said that t20 tournament will also be arranged for the teams of NA-55 in coming march.
Former MNA, Hanif Abbasi was of the view that Punjab government has allocated Rs 13 billion for the betterment of sports facilities and infrastructure in the province and around 70 ground to be prepared for night cricket matches, Astroturf are being laid in 25 hockey grounds across the province while 50 gymnasiums would also be constructed.
