Nedelko to play Enrique in BB International F3 tennis championship Final
No.2 seed Enrique Lopez-Perez to challenge No.1 seed Russian Ivan Nedelko in Men’s singles final of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed International F3 tennis tournament.
Russian Ivan Nedelko defeated Turkish challenger Ergi Kirkin in hard fought three set match by 7-6(6), 2-6, 6-4 and booked the seat for the final while No.2 seed Spaniard Enrique Lopez-Perez outclassed No.6 Austrian Peter Goldsteiner in the second semifinal of the championship by 6-1, 6-1.
Turkish player fought hard against the top seeded player and displayed the sheer talent he has got. Kirkin brakes the very first serve of Ivan but that lasted for few minutes as Russian broke back the serve of Kirkin to level the score 1-1. Turkish player once again breaks the 5th serve but Nedelko equalize the score once again after breaking the very next serve of Turkish player. The set was evenly poised but Turkish Kirkin once again breaks the 10th serve to take lead one more time but Nedelko did not stop and broke back the 11th serve of Kirkin to equalize score once again on 5-5.
On tie break, Ivan won the first two back to back points to take lead over Kirkin but the Turkish won the next point to reduce the lead 2-1. Once again Ivan won the point but Kirkin won back to back four points to strengthen his lead by 5-3. At that point, everyone was assuming the set belongs to Kirkin but Nedelko stops Kirkin’s streak and reduce lead to 5-4. Turkish won yet another point to make it 6-4 but here veteran Nedelko displayed his skills and earn four back to back points and won the first set 7-6(6).
After losing the first set Kirkin kept his cool and played powerful serves and smashes against Nedelko. Turkish player did not allow Russian to open his arms. Kirkin breaks 4th and 8th serves of Ivan to win the second set by 6-2. In the third set, Turkish Ergi Kirkin breaks 6th serve of Russian but Ivan fought back for his honor and broke back 7th and 9th serves of Kirkin to minimize his chances of winning the set and finally won the all-important contest in 2 hours 7 minutes.
The second Semifinal was played between No. 2 Spanish player Enrique Lopez-Perez and No. 6 Austrian player Peter Goldsteiner and Spaniard won the match comprehensively 6-1, 6-1. Austrian player had no clue playing against experienced Enrique and Spanish player did not allow Peter to play freely and won the match.
In the first Men’s double semifinal, Russian-Spanish duo Kristian Lozan/Enrique Lopez-Perez defeated Turk-Russian pair Ergi Kirkin/Nikolay Vylegzhanin after a hard fight by 6-0, 4-6, 10-6. Russian-Spanish pair won the first set without conceding any point but the Turk-Russian duo played well in the second set to win by 6-4. In the third set, Spaniard-Russian players used all their experience to down Kirkin/Nikolay by 10-6 and booked their berth in the final.
In the second semifinal of Men’s doubles category, Ukrainian-Russian pair Gleb Alekseenko/Ivan Ponomarenko shocks No.2 Austrian-German duo Peter Goldsteiner/Julian Onken in straight sets by 6-0, 6-4. Gleb and Ivan won the first set easily and did not allow opponents to take a single point. In the second set, No.2 seed pair tried their luck but that was not good enough to win against Gleb Alekseenko/Ivan Ponomarenko and the Ukrainian-Russian won the match easily by 6-0, 6-4.
