Pakistan secures silver in Asian Men’s Netball Championship
Pakistan earned second position after a nail-biting final encounter against the rivals India in Asian Men’s Netball Championship.
Pakistan with the deficit of 1 point lost the match against India and secured silver medal in the Asian Men’s Netball Championship. India scored 51 points while Pakistan just lost the way and ended up on 50 points.
Pakistan, during the round robin match remained unbeaten and it also defeated India by 70-41 in group match. Pakistan ousted Singapore in the semifinal by 75-63 to reach into the final of championship. India qualified for the final after defeating hosts Malaysia 47-44.
The netball squad of Pakistan includes Mohammad Akhtar (captain), Samad Masood (vice-captain), Mehboob Shah, Ali Raza Fareed, Muhammad Khursheed, Abid Ali Ansari, Haris Kamal, Yawar Khan, Zahid Iqbal, Muhammad Rizwan and Naseeb Raza. Mudassar Razak is the team’s manager with Anwar Ahmed Ansari as the coach. Muhammad Riaz is assistant manager and Yassir assistant coach.
Pakistan also won the silver in the First Asian Men’s Netball Championship 2016. The hosts Malaysia defeated Pakistan 35-34 in a close competition, which was held at Dewan Serbaguna Complex Quarters, Kuala Lumpur, last year.
