International Powerlifting Championship kicks off today in Singapore
Pakistan sent its seven member contingent including the 4 women powerlifters in the hunt for gold medal in Oceania Classic Championship, Singapore.
The biggest ever Pakistani women contingent is participating in the championship including Rabia Razzaq, Sybil Suhail, Twinkel Suhail and Saniha Ghafoor. Three men power lifters are, Muhammad Ahmed Khan, Nadeem Hashmi and Mehmud Heera while Muhammad Rashid Malik will be the coach and manager.
In the Men’s category Mehmud Heera and Muhammad Ahmed Khan will be featuring in 120kg event while Syed Nadeem Hashmi will represent Pakistan in 105kg event.
In Women’s category Saniha Ghafoor will represent Pakistan in 57kg event while Twinkle Suhail will participate in 72kg event, Rabia Razzaq in 72kn and Sybil Suhail will be showing her talent in 47kn event.
Manager and couch of Pakistan team Muhammad Rashid Malik will also participate in the masters three for above 60 year old players. Team manager is hopeful that Pakistani players will showcase their talent as they had good preparations for the championship. Pakistan team will return on 12th December.
The Oceania Classic Championship will be featuring 148 athletes from different countries including Pakistan, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and China among others.
