WAPDA triumphs in All Pakistan Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament
WAPDA outplayed Pakistan Navy in the final of All Pakistan Gold cup Volleyball tournament at the Municipal Sports Complex, Kamilia and lifts the cup.
Pakistan WAPDA defeated Pakistan Navy by 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23 and wins the cup. A large number of crowed witnessed the final match where Wapda in a hard fought final match ousted Navy by 3-1. WAPDA won the 1st game easily by 25-15 but in the 2nd game Navy resisted and came back to win the 2nd game by 23-25. Brilliant boosting by Navy’s Mubasshar enabled Asif to smash hard in the right corners of the court. In remaining 2 games the spectators saw a great game where Navy came fights hard but not good enough to beat Wapda and loses the last 2 games with the score of 25-23 and 25-23.
Earlier, in the 1st semifinal Pakistan Navy ousted Pakistan Under-20 by 3-1. Inexperienced boys of Pakistan juniors demonstrated outstanding stamina but Navy, one of the top teams in national circuit, were too good for them. They lost the match 25-13, 25-20, 25-18. In the 2nd Semifinal, WAPDA thrashed Pakistan Police in the second semifinal 3-0. The score-line was 25-15, 25-13, 25-22. Police outplayed Pakistan Under-20 3-1 to get the third position. The score remained 25-27, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) was the chief guest on the occasion and he game away winning trophy and cash prize of 150, 000 to winners WAPDA while he gave RS 75,000 cash prize to Pakistan Navy. Police walked away with cash prize of Rs.50, 000 while Pakistan Under-20 received cash prize of Rs.25, 000.
Naseer from Pakistan WAPDA was declared the best player of the tournament while Mubasshar from Pakistan Navy was named best smasher. Asif from Navy was honored with best booster and Nasir Ali from WAPDA was declared best libro of the tournament. All these players received the cash prize of RS 10, 000 from the Chairman Municipal Committee Kamli, Malik Sharif.
