Hamza Mawaz steers Black Horse Paints to claims Shoe Planet Polo cup title
Black Horse Paints/Artema Medical outplayed Honda Chenab by 10-6 in the main final of shoe Planet Polo cup to seal the title at Lahore Polo Club ground.
Hamza Mawaz once again was brilliant in his game and showed his team the way to victory. With a double hat-trick, he overall scored 7 goals and played the major role in his team’s win. Artema Medical team started the game with 2 goals handicap advantage. Abubakar Siddique added 1 goal for his team to complete the tally. Bailal Haye and Ahmed Ali Tawana contributed hat-tricks from Honda Chanab team but was not good enough to save their team.
Honda Chanab, the winners of winter polo cup started the shoe planet final with the same style and struck a hat-trick in the first chukker and takes lead over Artema Medical team which already had 2 goals handicap advantage. Artama Medical, before the end of 1st chukker added 1 goal and equal the score 3-3. Black horse Paints showed their authority over the game as they banged 3 goals in the 2nd chukker and takes lead by 6-3.
They also started the 3rd chukker with same dominance but only managed to add 1 more goal to take 7-3 lead. Honda Chenab at that stage made a comeback and hammered a brace to reduce the deficit 7-5 and the 3rd chukker ended with the same score. In the last chakker, Artema Medical showed superb field game and slammed 3 more goals to take undeniable lead of 10-5over Honda Chenab. In the dying moments of last chukker, Honda Chenab change the game plan and converted a goal to finish the final at 10-6 and Black Horse paints/Artema Medical won the title.
Saqib khan Khakwani in another match, helped his team Elan to win the subsidiary final over Dawood Group by 6-4 ½. Saqib banged a hat-trick and remains the main scorer for winning team. Agha Musa added 2 while Emran Khan contributed 1 goal. Dawood Group had half goal handicap advantage over the opponents but still the could not make it right for the team. Raja Arslan and hammered a hat-trick while Mir huzaifa score the remaining 1 goal.
In the end, Mrs Neelam Mawaz gave away trophies and shields to the winners. Lahore Polo Club executive committee member Omar Sadiq, Saqib Khan Khakwani, members families and polo lovers were also present on the occasion. Omar Sadiq lauded the winners for winning the final and also appreciated the sponsors for supporting this game of kings and knights.
