Punjab Blues crowned Under 16 Boys' National Hockey Championships title

Punjab Blues thrashed Sindh Reds by 6-0 in the final match of Under 16 School Boys' National Hockey Championships at the Bakht Ali Dahot hockey stadium, Khairpur.

After the close semifinal wins, it was also expected that both the teams would display good stick work but as the match started, Punjab blues started acceleration towards the Sindh reds goal post. The all-important match of the tournament turned to be one sided encounter in which Punjab blues out-played Sindh reds by 6-0.

From Punjab blues Sohail and Arsal Saleem fired 2 goals each while Shahbaz and Waqas Syed contributed 1 goal apiece. Sindh reds got some goal scoring chances but the good defense and goalkeeping of Punjab blues could not allow Sindh reds to convert any goal.

Earlier in another match for 3rd position played between Punjab greens and Islamabad, Punjab team ousted Islamabad by 3-0 and claimed the 3rd position. It is pertinent to mention here that 24 teams from all over Pakistan participated in the event where 4 teams represented Punjab, 3 teams each from Sindh, KPk while 2 came from Baluchistan.  1 each team of Islamabad, AJ&K, Gilgit Baltistan and FATA also participated in the event.

Member National Assembly from Pakistan Peoples Party Dr. Nafisa Shah was the chief guest of the occasion. She gave away the winning trophy to Punjab blues and also distributed prizes and medals among the players participated in championship. Former Olympians and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) officials were also present while a large number of crowed also witnessed the final match.
